Associated Supervisors (Diaries & Prestarts)

A diary or prestart has one primary supervisor and can carry any number of associated supervisors — other supervisors on the project who worked the record’s shift. An associated supervisor gets the same visibility as the primary: the record appears in their lists and opens for them on web and mobile, even when their role otherwise limits them to their own records.

Managing the set

The diary and prestart detail pages (web) show the associated supervisors next to the primary, with a picker to add or remove them. The picker offers project members who are supervisors on the project — an association grants access, so only supervisor-eligible members can be added. Saving replaces the whole set at once, and every change lands on the record’s audit trail (who was added, who was removed, by whom).

Dockets have the same concept: a docket’s associated supervisors are set from its detail rail, and a worker signing on under a second supervisor’s prestart adds that supervisor to the existing docket automatically so the shift surfaces in both supervisors’ diaries.

Duplication

Duplicating a diary or prestart carries the associated supervisors onto the copy. Who becomes the copy’s primary depends on who duplicates:

  • The primary (or an admin) duplicates — the copy keeps the same primary.
  • An associated supervisor duplicates — the copy becomes theirs: they become the primary and the previous primary is kept as an associated supervisor, so nobody loses visibility. The duplicate dialog’s Supervisor field shows this before you submit.
  • Picking a supervisor in the duplicate dialog always wins over both rules.

The duplicate dialog defaults the new date to tomorrow (a project allows one diary per supervisor, date, and shift — duplicating onto a taken slot is rejected with a clear message). Mobile’s Duplicate action creates the copy for tomorrow the same way.
