Activity Workbench

Every activity on a project in one table: target against actual, cost, and the dockets that use it. Edit cells in place, set one field across many rows, add and delete activities.

Where it is

Activities in the project sidebar, between Diaries and Dockets.

Editing

Click a cell to edit it. Enter saves and moves down, Tab moves across, Esc cancels.

ColumnDiary activityPrestart activity
DescriptionYesYes
Cost CodeYesYes
Target QtyYesYes
ActualYesNo

Engineers can’t edit prestart activities.

Select rows to set Cost Code, Target Qty, Unit or Actual on all of them at once. Rows that can’t take the change are skipped and counted.

Activities from a published prestart

A published prestart’s activities are the plan the crew was briefed on. On those rows:

WhatCan change
Cost CodeYes — add it or correct it
ActualYes
DescriptionNo
StageNo
Target Qty, RateNo
Delete the rowNo

Activities added after the prestart was published can be changed and deleted like any other.

The cost code feeds docket costing, so adding a missing one codes the hours already on its dockets.

Deleting

Each row has a delete button. It is off, with the reason on hover, when:

  • the activity is from a published prestart, or
  • dockets use the activity. The reason says how many.

To delete an activity that dockets use, first take it off those dockets.

Comments

Each row has a comment button in the Comments column. It shows how many comments the activity has.

Click it to open the activity’s comments beside the table. The newest comment is at the bottom. Type in the box and click Post, or press Ctrl + Enter (⌘ + Enter on a Mac).

  • Each comment shows who wrote it and when, in the project’s time zone. An edited comment says Edited.
  • A deleted comment is gone from the list and the count for everyone.
  • Comments other people post appear on their own, with the count, while the page is open.
  • The same comments are in the Comments pane when you open the activity from a diary or prestart.
